Walt Disney World is massive -- four theme parks, two water parks, Disney Springs, and over 25 resort hotels. Without a plan, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. But with the right strategy, your first visit can be pure magic.
Tip 1: Book your trip at least 60 days in advance. This gives you access to Lightning Lane reservations and dining availability that fills up fast.
Tip 2: Arrive at the parks before rope drop. The first hour of the day is when wait times are shortest, and you can knock out two or three major attractions before the crowds build.
Tip 3: Use the My Disney Experience app for everything. Mobile ordering, wait times, park maps, and Lightning Lane selections all live in the app.
Tip 4: Budget for dining. Character meals are a wonderful way to meet favorites like Mickey and Cinderella without waiting in long meet-and-greet lines.
Tip 5: Take a midday break. Florida heat is real, especially in summer. Head back to the resort for a pool break and return for the evening entertainment.
Tip 6: Pack comfortable shoes. You will walk 8-12 miles per day. Break in your shoes before the trip.
Tip 7: Bring ponchos, not umbrellas. Afternoon rain showers are a daily occurrence, and ponchos are easier to manage on rides.
Tip 8: Do not skip the smaller attractions. Rides like Carousel of Progress, Tiki Room, and Spaceship Earth are air-conditioned classics with almost no wait.
Tip 9: Stay on property if you can. Disney resort guests get early entry, complimentary transportation, and the full immersive experience.
Tip 10: Work with a travel advisor. A specialist (like us!) can help you navigate ticket options, dining plans, and resort choices to build the perfect trip -- all included when you work with us.
