Royal Caribbean operates some of the largest and most innovative cruise ships in the world. If it is your first time sailing with them, a little planning goes a long way.
Tip 1: Choose your ship wisely. Icon and Utopia of the Seas are the newest and most feature-packed, but Oasis-class ships like Wonder and Symphony are incredible too. Each ship has a different personality.
Tip 2: Book early for the best cabin selection. Balcony cabins on Royal Caribbean are worth the upgrade -- the ocean views from your private balcony are magical, especially at sunset.
Tip 3: Download the Royal Caribbean app before embarkation. You will use it for dining reservations, activity sign-ups, and tracking your onboard spending.
Tip 4: Get the drink package if you are a cocktail or coffee lover. The Deluxe Beverage Package covers premium drinks, specialty coffee, fresh-pressed juices, and more. It typically pays for itself by day two.
Tip 5: Do not skip Perfect Day at CocoCay. Royal Caribbean's private island in the Bahamas features Thrill Waterpark, a zip line, cabana rentals, and stunning beaches. Book a cabana or Coco Beach Club day pass early -- they sell out.
Tip 6: Plan for sea days. The FlowRider, rock climbing wall, bumper cars, and pool deck are all free. Sea days are some of the best days of the cruise.
Tip 7: Explore specialty dining. Chops Grille, Izumi, and Wonderland are standout restaurants that offer incredible meals for a small surcharge.
Tip 8: Work with a travel advisor (like us!) to find the best promotions. Royal Caribbean frequently offers kids sail free, onboard credit, and reduced deposit deals that can save your family hundreds.
